Cabarrus Family Medicine Residency Program Welcomes New Residents
CONCORD, N.C., July 12, 2006 - Five new resident physicians have joined the Cabarrus Family Medicine Residency Program. First-year residents joining the program are Jessica Macrie, DO, a graduate of the University of New England College of Medicine, Roozchehr Safi, MD, a graduate of Iran University of Medical Sciences, and Jay Perlman, MD, Tess Richards, MD and Victor Vargas, MD, all graduates of the American University of the Carribean.
The Cabarrus Family Medicine Residency Program, led by program director Mark D. Robinson, MD and director of graduate medical education L. Allen Dobson Jr., MD, is affiliated with the University of North Carolina School of Medicine Department of Family Medicine, recently ranked second in the nation by U.S. News and World Report in their annual ranking of the Best Graduate Schools. Sponsored by NorthEast Medical Center, the program provides specialty training in family medicine in an on-site, three-year program. Using an apprenticeship model of training, Cabarrus Family Medicine Residency focuses on preparing family physicians for rural and small-town practice. Residents work with primary care and specialty physicians throughout NorthEast Medical Center and with family physicians at four family medicine clinics in the region, Cabarrus Family Medicine - Mt. Pleasant, Cabarrus Family Medicine - Concord, Cabarrus Family Medicine - Kannapolis, and Cabarrus Family Medicine - Harrisburg. |
