Rotations in Family Medicine / Community Medicine
- We can design a rotation to fulfill your medical school’s requirements.
- Can be entirely outpatient in a comprehensive family medicine office, including OB experience. Inpatient experience with call available (see below).
- Experience in office procedures such as Colposcopy, Skin Biopsy / Minor Laceration Repair, Exercise Treadmill Testing.
- Nursing home visits, home visits, home health agencies, and Hospice visits available.
- Didactic sessions available include:-
- Family Medicine Resident Teaching Conference, Wednesdays 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
- Medicine Conferences, weekdays 7:30 – 8:00 a.m.
- Journal Club and Family Medicine Grand Rounds.
- PharmD, Behavorial Medicine faculty, and Registered Dietician available for teaching, assistance with project.
- Office-based research electives available.
- Housing available; free meals at conference and when on call; free use of exercise facility.

Family Medicine Inpatient Externship / Acting Internship
- Work alongside family medicine residents and attending physicians in all areas of the hospital, including ER, ICU, Pediatrics, Nursery, Labor and Delivery, Family Medicine Unit, Chest Pain Unit, and Cardiac Unit.
- Share patient care responsibilities as primary physician to specific number of patients.
- Take Call with residents and in-house attendings.
- Participate in teaching rounds at morning report, including presentations of patients admitted.
- May include some office experience with attending physician.
- Didactic sessions available include:
- Family Medicine Resident Teaching Conference, Wednesdays 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
- Daily Teaching Rounds
- Inpatient Family Medicine Teaching Series
- Medicine Conferences, weekdays 8 – 8:30 a.m.
- Journal Club and Family Medicine Grand Rounds
- Housing available; free meals at conference and when on call; free use of exercise facility.
