Demaura Hawkins completed her undergraduate studies at Hampton University, in Hampton, VA where she received a B.S., summa cum laude, in Biology. She received a number of merit-based awards and was very active in her church and community. She gained experience by working as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Vance Family Medicine, Henderson, NC. She has also served as a mentor to the Big Brother, Big Sister program in Hampton, VA.
Demaura continued her education at Wake Forest University School of Medicine where she continued her service to the community by being actively involved in health focused outreach education and screenings. She serves as a volunteer with Healthco, a community health center. She is a member of the Student National Medical Association.
Her interest lies in helping underserved communities have equality in healthcare. She has a great interest in providing primary care and preventative health information to people who may not otherwise have access.
Her hobbies include: Reading, Traveling, and spending time with her family.
